Delivery of service

The terms of service stated here relate to listings claimed and administration charges paid for online advertising and social media promotion at Be Local. Be Local offers businesses across the Weald of Kent and Sussex a free monthly listing until 31st December 2020. Types of business can include retail shops and offices, home-based businesses and freelancers, not-for-profit organisations and charities. Each business will be charged a one-off administration fee of £3 to cover the cost of maintaining the Be Local platform.

From 1st January 2020, each business listing will be subject to a monthly subscription fee of £8.40 including VAT. £2.00 of each monthly fee will be donated directly to Be Local’s chosen charity, The Bumblebee Conservation Trust. The remainder of the fee will contribute to a collaborative marketing fund to promote the scheme, including your listing(s). Whenever a listing is uploaded to the website’s portal, its contents are manually checked for acceptability, completeness and geographic compliance, all of which is included in this fee.

Please note, from 1st January 2020, all not-for-profit organisations and charities will continue to receive a free monthly listing.

Be Local aims to publish a business listing within 6 working hours of it being uploaded to the website. Standard working hours are from 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. GMT Monday – Friday, subject to the content being acceptable, complete and within the geographic area defined on the website. If not, a member of the team will contact the business claiming the listing and this may cause a delay whilst remedial action is taken.

Cancellation of service

Advertisers on Be Local select and upload their own listing by creating an account, the content of which they are able to access, edit or delete at any point in time, utilising their self-generated username and password. If the details of their offer(s) change, requiring them to alter or delete the contents, constituting a cancellation, they are able to do so. Administration staff will monitor variations during such alterations or deletions.

Refund of service

Be Local does not offer any refunds as the costs of administration have already been incurred.
